Facebook just launched its mobile App Centre in an attempt to promote its mobile business.
The mobile App Centre will be available on the Facebook website, Apple and Android devices, and will initially feature around 600 apps. It recommends apps based on your interests, app download history, or the apps your friends have liked.
Facebook is trying to make use of the demand and surge in popularity of apps and social gaming. Social games like Farmville, Cityville and The Sims are among the many played by millions of facebook users.
The mobile App Centre automatically lets the users browse the apps that are compatible with their respective devices. If the apps need downloading, it can be done via the Appstore or Google Play.
“The Facebook App Center will become the new, central place to find great apps like Draw Something, Pinterest, Spotify, Battle Pirates, Viddy, and Bubble Witch Saga,” said Aaron Braddy, of Facebook.
Facebook claims that the mobile App Centre won’t be competing with other app stores, such as that of Apple’s or Google Play. In fact the app will send the apps to other stores to be downloaded.
Everyone will be looking forward to find out if the new move from Facebook is any good.
